The time has come – our new stable is being built!
The currently existing barn at Maurachhof was built in 1948. 30 years later, a manure removal system was installed to facilitate stable work. From 1991 there was an indoor crane. But still the stable became older and narrower. It also no longer met current animal husbandry standards. Thus, the idea was born to create a modern, practical and spacious barn for our animals. Many plans were drafted and countless ideas were floated. “If barn building is going to happen, it has to be perfect!” says Toni Gruber. After a long period of preparation, the plan was set. A large hay barn, playpen for the cows, spacious horse stalls and plenty of room for chickens and goats, that’s how it should be.
On the first of April it started. The excavator arrived to dig the large excavation pit. This was followed by the construction site crane and countless trucks that delivered the many building materials. It was not long before the first walls were built. With our super team it was possible to complete the concrete work within 6 weeks.
On top of the now existing concrete walls and floors came the woodwork. But the countless boards were first painted by many helpers. Sawing, hammering and screwing was done daily. Now it stands there, almost finished. Currently, the finishing touches are made. Pull in cables, finish the horse stalls, make fences and install the waterers.
Our new barn will soon be ready for the animals to move in. We have space for 25 cows and calves. They have a large lying area and can move around widely. Next to 3 horse stalls including run, are the chicken and pigsty. These animals also have the possibility to go outside whenever they want. Furthermore, a cozy box was also set up for our goats and sheep. In the new barn, among other things, space was also created for a large garage and two additional workrooms.
It grew a small paradise for all our animals!!!
